Garo was a Japanese alternative manga magazine known for its experimental and artistic comics. Published from 1964 to 2002, it played a major role in the development of underground and independent manga in Japan.
Garo (May 1977, Issue No. 163) was published by Seirindo in May 1977 and sold for 308 yen. This issue featured a range of influential underground and alternative manga works, including Zero Kaiten no Untenshu (The Driver of Zero Rotation) by Genpei Akasegawa.
It also included contributions from notable creators such as Maki Sasaki, Yukio Kawasaki, and Katsuhiro Kusunoki. Reflecting the spirit of Japan's underground manga and counterculture movements of the 1970s, this issue remains a valuable snapshot of the era's avant-garde and subcultural scene.
