This is a charming vintage wooden folk toy from Kumamoto, Japan, featuring a cute tanuki (Japanese raccoon dog). At first glance, it looks like a beautiful wooden figurine, but it is actually a clever puzzle-like toy. It can be disassembled into 4 separate individual spinning tops: the bamboo hat, the head, the body, and the tail/base combo. A wonderful and rare piece of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, perfect for collectors.
